lcolciecwierz.jpgColonel Robert Darling announces the appointment of LCol Roman Ciecwierz as Eastern Regional Commander.

Immediate Past Officer Commanding and founder of the Fort Conestoga Garrison, LCol Ciecwierz joined the 78th Fraser Highlanders in 1989 as a Volunteer-Sergeant of York Garrison. Commuting from Waterloo Ontario to the York Garrison functions he captured a number of friends and associates into the Regiment, served as Communications Officer at York and restyled the Communique newsletter which he continued to produce for over 10 years. At the behest of the growing number of new officers from the Kitchener-Waterloo area, then Captain Ciecwierz petitioned to form an Outpost in 2002 and then for full Garrison status in 2005. He is fondly known as MacCheevitch to his troops and holds the distinction of being the only Pole known to many to do a laudable version of the Ode to a Haggis (with a Polish/Scottish accent of course)!

He is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University. Has served for 24 years as an Air Reserve Officer employed in the Cadet Instructor Cadre, holding many positions including Commanding Officer at both 892 Snowy Owl Squadron in Caledon and 845 Avro Arrow Squadron in Mississauga, Region Cadet Advisor, Regional CIC Branch Advisor, and lastly as the first Class A, CIC officer to be appointed as the Branch Advisor for the CIC and Chairman of the National CIC Branch Advisory Council. In addition, he has and continues to sit on the Boards of a number of charitable organizations including St. John Ambulance, The Order of St. Lazarus and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

He resides in Waterloo Ontario with his wife Maggie and beautiful young daughter Jessica. In his business life he is currently Managing Partner of an advertising agency, and in the past has been fortunate to hold numerous and varied positions in the business world including Internal Auditor, Treasury Manager, CFO and Money Market Trader. He enjoys golf, flying, scuba diving, spending time in South Carolina and of course helping to preserve Canadian history the 78th Fraser Highlander way.

Colonel Darling wishes Roman every success with his new command position.
