Born in Montreal in 1936 of Scottish parents, 4th generation Canadian. Educated in Quebec and Ontario, spent his youth in the Toronto area, was involved in the Boy Scouts and Air Cadets 246 Progress Squadron.
He first entered the work force in sales and marketing for a major Canadian Steel Producer, over ten years he held various positions in the company finally attaining the title of VP Western Sales.
In 1968 the entrepreneurial side of him led him to launching a holding company in the Hospitality Industry with acquisition of several motels and licensed establishments, during this period he served on the board of directors of The Ontario Motel & Hotel Association and The Joint Board of Tourist Resort Operators.
In 1976 at the age of forty the challenge of the corporate world drew him back into corporate life where he directed his energies towards a successful career, first Building Materials and then Builder Hardware.
In 1986 he helped establish one of Canada’s first job creation programs in conjunction with The Federal Government this led to the formation of Canada’s first Entrepreneurial Development Centers, Seed Capital Funds and Incubators. As President he opened centers in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Sydney, Nova Scotia, Quebec City, Quebec, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia. Faced with a shift of mandate due to a change in government the venture was forced to close with many of the founding initiatives adopted in government run programs that still exist. Undaunted he opened a retail flower shop and then a second becoming one of the largest Florists in the GTA. until he sold out in 2007, retiring after 16 years.
He lives in Collinwood Ontario, married to Milady Danielle has two children Mark & Kathey and a step son Jonathan, has six grand children. His hobbies include Golf, Single Malt Collection and The 78th Fraser Highlanders which he joined York Garrison in 1991 as an Ensign, served as PMC, 2IC and OC. Remains a member of the Honorable Guard.
