The 250th anniversary of the siege of Louisbourg was celebrated in Cape Breton on the weekend of July 25-27 when more than 1,1000 re-enactors refought the battle- the first British victory of the war. Twenty members of the 78th from the Ottawa and Montreal squads were front and center. Legend holds that the sword dance was danced before battle and touching the blades meant bad luck.
